Ghost Network

Seen in: Season 1- Episode 2
Performed by: Roy McComb

An iridium-Based, organometallic compound injected into the subjects brain multiplies over time, can turn a person into a “human walkie-Talkie.” This ghost network allows people to communicate covertly through mental transmissions.

Celermitosis

Seen in: Season 1- Episode 3
Performed by: Dr. Clause Penrose

The show explains that the US government ordained a plan for a soldier farm during the Vietnam War. While sucessful in growth acceleration via control of the pituitary gland, the scientist could not figure out how to stop the rapid aging process. In the current day Dr. Penrose’s child extracted pituitary glands from his victims to decelerate his aging process. Apparently Dr. Penrose has made a breakthrough in this field of fringe science.

Retinal Visual Imprintation

Jules Verne mentioned “in his lesser know masterpiece the Kip Brothers – in which he posited that the last image seen in life right at the moment of death, is permanently imprinted
on the retina of the eye.”

With the help of Massive Dynamic’s electronic pulse camera, Dr. Walter Bishop attached the camera to the optic nerve of the victims corpse and was able to retrieve traces of visual memory left in the optic nerve. Using this technique they were able to find the location of the warehouse that the killer was using at the time of the victims death.

Mental Transference

Seen in: Season One – Episode 1
Originally Performed by: Olivia Dunham

Dr Walter Bishop: “The human brain generates a quantifiable electric field. I posited in 1976 that it is possible to synchronize the fields of two distinct minds to allow the sharing of information across the unconscious state. Like a string between two tin cans. I have used this technique to extract information from a corpse once. You can do that if they haven’t been dead for longer than six hours. You could access his memories. Assuming there’s no brain damage.”

The technique as performed by Dr Walter Bishop includes placing an electromagnetic probe placed at the base of the patients skull whilst being immersed without clothing into a tank. The patient is then submersed into a tank while being drugged with a mix of ketamine, neurontin, lysergic acid diethylamide. The rough equivalent of LSD.

The technique was later performed again on John Scott posthumously by Massive Dynamics as authorized by Nina Sharp to “interrogate him.” The technique of mental transference performed by Massive Dynamics is unknown.

Although its just a tv show, most of the science is fictional and theoretical.

You would be surprised how much of it is based on actual studies as well as the theories with which “real” scientists are playing. We have the technology now (SCIO, for example) to speak to people in a coma; it needs a little tweaking, but the bones are there.
