Episode Easter Eggs

Episode 4

The warehouse is named after Popular Mechanics writer SE Kramer who wrote a debunking fringe sciences earlier in the month. http://www.popularmechanics.com/science/research/4283295.html

The gravestone of Robert Bishop – Aug 21st 1912 – Dec 11th 1944.  Who knows what ties he will have later to the show.

Episode 3

The drill is foreshadowed in episode 3 suspiciously on a wall sticker.

Episode 2

none currently to report.

Episode 1

  • Those numbers Walter was reciting as he was trying to fall asleep (0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55) are Fibonacci numbers which are also known as the “Golden Rule.”
  • Gene the Cow’s tag number is “219.”
  • This is what the wrap sheet on Dr. Penrose’s FBI file said:

Dr. Claus Penrose has served as Chairman and Director of the biology (department) at Boston College since 2006. In addition, he has been on the Editorial (Board of many internationally recognized journals) such as Live Science, and was the Founding Editor and Editor-In-Chief (of The Plant Cell, the leading journal in the area of) molecular biology. He has been the organizer of major international (biology meetings, is a Co-Founder and Board) Member of Apostia Inc., a Cambria-based Plant Genomics Company, (and is the Director of The Seed Institute – an intercam-) pus “institute without walls” within UCSD dedicated to unraveling the (processes that control seed development. During his) long and distinguished career, Dr. Penrose has received several awards (recognizing his contributions to the field of plant) molecular biology. These include election to the National Academy of (Sciences, being named as a UCSD Faculty Research) Lecturer, and being listed as making one of the “top 15″ Discoveries in (UCSD’s 48-year history. Dr. Penrose is highly commit-) ted to undergraduate and graduate education and is an “expert” in (making science “come alive.” Dr. Penrose has received) UCSD Distinguished Teaching Awards from the Department of Applied (Biology and the Department of Molecular, ) Cell, and Developmental Biology, and was awarded the all-campus (Luckmann Distinguished Teaching Award from the Academic Senate.)

Could this be a future nemesis for our hero trio?I say this because… In episode 1, there is a subtle hint at who the bad guy would be… Dr Claus PENROSE.

Screen cap episode 1

There was foreshadowing of Dr. Penroses’ character in episode when while passing by this newspaper stand.

Access code at the end of episode 1 shows access code 112400, it can also be interpreted as 11/24/00 but I could be totally off base.

Title Sequence

Observers are here can be quickly seen in the opening title sequence.

Massive Dynamics Logo

Massive dynamics logo found again on the crane in episode 4, they seem to own everything in the country.

Massive Dynamics logo found on the Walter Bishops car in Episode 2

Massive Dynamics logo found on the “clone?” stretcher at the end of episode 2

Massive Dynamics logo found on the Plane at the beginning of the episode S01E01.  They probably know exactly what happened on that flight.

Green and Red Dots

We now know what the green and red dots are, but how are they related? Is there a connection with Agent Loeb, The Observer, The Villain from episode 4, and Agent Scott?

From dream sequence in episode 1

From Observers binoculars in episode 4

Olivia’s Dream Sequence

Olivia’s Dream sequence is pretty strange. Images of the Canoe flash first with the word Zeno on it and the letter A. There is also 3 Green dots and a red one. The A might be symbolic of the triangle motifs we see in all the glyphs, the website and other locations. The she instantly flashes back to a childs room. Was there history in Olivias childhood that remains to be explained? Was the Canoe a part of this? Maybe she has deeper connections to the Pattern than we know, as John Scott said -not exactly word for word “Why did Broyles choose you”. Also in the background which was missing in the leaked pilot, a gravestone reads “He’s Not Dead”. Which could be foreshadowing the return of John Scott. We’ll see soon enough.

Fringe Glyphs

fringe glyphs

fringe glyphs

Here are the promotional fringe glyphs released by FOX, each contain a secret to their image. Ill try to explain best I can going in order from the top left to right.

  • Ghost Face: This cloud of smoke forms a face. Probably represents transcendence of the physical form
  • Rams Horn: Contains the Fibonacci spiral around the horn with the number PHI. Also known as the golden ratio.
  • Apple: Contains embryos.  Considering the biblical reference to the apple in the Garden of Eden in Christianity and possibly the embryos representing Adam and Eve – this could signify the origin of the human race.
  • Hand: The handprint shown in the Fringe promos contains six fingers.  This may refer to genetic evolution or experimentation of human beings.
  • Frog: Contains the symbol of Phi imprinted on its back. Frogs do have a pretty big metamorphosis stage from tadpoles to adults, this could represent change.
  • Flower: There is a dragonfly wing located as a replacement for one of the petals. Dragonflies are also known for dramatic metamorphosis from nymphs to adults as well.  It was also noted that the petals forms Fermat’s spiral as well.
  • Seahorse: The body of the seahorse contains a Fibonacci spiral in the form of the golden ratio: The tail of the Seahorse also forms this as well.
  • Butterfly: The butterfly contains a bone structure – possibly further reinforcing the idea of advanced metamorphosis. Larvae to cocoon to butterfly.
  • Leaf: Contains a triangle, delta.  Probably the most mysterious of the objects because the meaning is still so vague.
  • Yellow Lights: The glyphs are commonly associated with yellow lights.  Between one to three lights surround each object, never less or more.  When three are around they form the triangle that is also shown in the leaf.

Actually the numbers Walter was reciting were NOT the Fibonnacci sequence.

  2. MrFringe

The first set of numbers Dr. Bishop was reciting was the Fibonacci Number. Peter interrupted him and he started to recite a different sequence of numbers.

  3. cole gabrick

Wow, you guys pay close attention to every possible detail! I wish I had that ability. Is it a learned skill or a God given?

  4. Andy D'Silva

Episode 3: Did you guys notice The Observer in between the train cars while the FBI chick is running though the train?

I saw a glimpse of him (the bald guy from episode 4) twice, in two quick shots.

    1. One was in a reflection in the glass of the door of the train car and;
    2. immediately in the next shot with his back against the inside of the train car, keeping out of the FBI chicks way.

  5. MrFringe

I wasnt sure if i should create a section for the observer or not since he became a prominent character. If he somehow shows up again in episode 5, Ill devote a section to him.

  6. Apostle Underground

The “A” symbol is the Phoenician Aleph

  7. Juju

the daisy also has a petal shaped like a dove

  8. the cow

i just noticed that all the yellow dots always make a scalene triangle(If it helps)… none of the sides are equal

  9. fringeish

    Hi
is the wings of the butterfly in a hand shaped bone structure?
looks like the hand of a primate…
    cya

  10. Nena

OMG i thought i was the only one who noticed the green and red dots everyone else thought i was crazy!!

  11. Timmy2

At the end of episode 11, (00:48:55) olivia is holding a book. on the cover it reads “What’s that noise”. at the beginning of episode 12 (00:00:34), the boy gets a pop up from a downloaded file. the pop up reads “What’s that noise”. i would get screenshots but i thought i would let you do that MrFringe. if i find anything else like this i’ll be sure to let you know. :P

I have this feeling that all of these details are not just for entertainment. What if these things are supposed to lead people who notice them to do further research on various subjects to inform them of something very real. Some of the experiments that Walter did or even referenced seemed similar to real experiments done by MK ULTRA Scientists decades ago. Also, the lights around the glyphs remind me of stars or planets. This also seems strange considering whats to come in the next few years.

The “drill” in episode three appears to be the beacon from It has arrived.

For the leaf with the triangle in it start at

A brief study of phyllotaxis will get you where your going.

Found this funny link. The secret message is revealed!!!

    hi.
If you look closely at the seahorse you can see a square in the center of it’s body. the square also have an curve inside the bottom left corner. just wondering if that is a weird symbol with a meaning behind it too or if the seahorse just looks like that?:P

  17. walter bishop

Hey if you guys would have taken a science course in school you would have known that the triangle in the leag is the symbol delta. Delta is used in science to represent ‘change in’ which goes along with the metamorphisis of the dragonfly, frog, etc.

  18. fan

is the observer in every episode. I need to watch reruns of them all im too caught up in the story that i forget to look for easter eggs! this site is awesome!

  19. runner

where the observer is in ‘the equation’ there is a butterfly on a whiteboard leaning against the trashcans

  20. Foolproof

So the yellow lights. You say, “Between one to three lights surround each object, never less or more.” If it’s less than one, that would be zero. So whenever they’re not there at all, that’s less than one. I was going to reprimand you for a syntax error, but it actually sort of makes sense, because everything in this show, no matter how tiny, has significance. Well done, sir.

  21. julie

    Delta.
The symbol of delta found in the leaf most likely means change. In physics some of the equations say such and such divided by change in time, and change in time is always written as a triangle delta and a “t”. So the most probable meaning for the triangle found in the leaf is change. Perhaps a change in nature (the leaf) due to evolution or science. It certainly fits the nature of the show.

Seriously, what if this is supposed to alert us to what’s going on? I’m an artist, so I incorporate symbols into my work all the time. Also, this site is great. I’m a major Fringe fan, but it takes a screwed up bank account and a want to create a Fringe collage to make me think.

Kind of sad, if you think about it.

Keep up the good work with season 2.

The Golden Ratio, is what we use to determine whether or not somebody is beautiful. The reason we think certain people are beautiful, has a relation to the Golden Ratio. This could be reffering to the tampering with genetics in order to create a more perfect person, and reality. Also, the Golden Ratio is also called the Phi Ratio. There’s alot in the symbols pointing to the Golden ratio, and further, the subject of creating the perfect human/soldier.

  24. frijolazul

in many comments you refer to the glyphs you mention evolution, advance of science, the zft book was called Destruction Through Technological Progress, i also noticed, that after the charlie francis face changer episode charlie appears once or twice in the next episode.

  25. Yaniii

For the Leaf, the triangle seemed to leave some people uncertain about its meaning; to me that was very fitting because in Physics the symbol of a triangle stands for Uncertainty. I dont know why its on the leaf but hopefully this tid bit will help some genius out there to figure it out. Good Luck.

  26. Wes

“Considering the biblical reference to the apple in the Garden of Eden…” There’s no apple in the Garden of Eden.

  27. Penny

What is that in the middle of the daisy? And in the middle of the hand? And on the belly of the seahorse?

  28. Don

The Daisy: first notice the petal in the 10 position is an insect wing. The petal in the 5 position has water drops on it. The center appears to have a fly symbol on it (not sure)

The Hand: other than the 6th finger, its still a mystery to me

The Belly of the sea horse: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fibonacci_number

What is the number sequence on the horn (top middle picture)?
Did anyone notice the 2 fetus in the apple core?

  29. dolcerosadrops

    @Don
In the name of the figure, ”Golden rectangle” is an original name.
I wonder whether it is evidence “glyphs is an expression or sentences” what the author doesn’t say like that.
